Training for Mallorca
CSP developed a Spanish-language version of initial training in the Flourish curriculum and conducted virtual training with 30 educators and mental health professionals from the University of the Balearic Islands and Joan Capó School in Mallorca, Spain. Trainers were CSP Program Manager Joan Bryant, Youth Development Coordinator Ximena Villalobos from Backside Learning Center, and Elena Kryzhanovskaya, ESL teacher in Charlottesville City Schools.
The Mallorca team shared their vision to “conduct a line of research that places compassion and community at the heart of school activities. Our plan is to adapt the ‘Flourish’ framework to the local context.” The team leader expressed, “I feel like I threw a message in a bottle, into the ocean, and someone found it, so thank you very much.”
